This reminds some of breakfast and I guess if you like to dip your bacon in syrup this would be a good breakfast. I bought peppered bacon at Fresh Market, cooked it in the pan with brown sugar and maple syrup until it was crisp. I replaced the bacon drippings in the batter instead of oil, added more maple syrup and some cinnamon. Sort of like a french toast batter? I added the chopped crisp bacon into the batter and then once they were cooled, added buttercream, more chopped bacon and a drizzle of maple syrup!
